Term: Therapeutic Foster Home

Hands of Hope Blog

After a little over a month of writing these term posts, I think our adoption term diet has grown to the point where we can start to move beyond just the “dessert” terms. Now I love my ice cream as much as the next person, but, unfortunately, I can‘t live on ice cream alone. My body needs protein, it needs substance, it needs nutrition. Basically what I’m saying is, at this point, we need to begin tackling “meatier” terms; terms that are undoubtedly a bit tougher, but still very much a necessity to our adoption knowledge’s overall health and well-being.

That being said, let’s embark on our journey through the “main course” with the term therapeutic foster homes.

Therapeutic Foster Home:
A therapeutic foster home is one in which the foster family has received special training and continues to receive assistance from outside sources in order to best care for children with significant emotional and/or behavioral concerns.
