Pure Religion Sunday
a day to reflect God’s heart for the vulnerable
Pure Religion Sunday is November 9, 2025
Host a Pure Religion Sunday event to help your church and community engage in caring for vulnerable children and families where you live.
Pure Religion Sunday is a global movement for churches to reflect God’s heart for orphans and vulnerable children, rooted in James 1:27.
It’s a day for the Church to:
-
Engage in adoption, foster care, orphan care, and family support.
-
Live out compassion, discipleship, and justice as central to our faith.
-
Unite with thousands of churches worldwide to stand for vulnerable children.
The Need Is Great
-
As of January 2025, children in Indiana spend an average of 457 days in foster care.
-
25–33% of youth and young adults experiencing homelessness have a history of foster care.
-
More than a third of children in foster care experience three or more placements each year.
-
30–50% of foster families stop fostering annually, often because they feel overwhelmed and exhausted.
- 196 children in Indiana are available for adoption right now and do not have a forever home identified.
How to Take Part
- Register your event and join churches worldwide standing for children and families.
- Use the free resources during worship, small groups, or outreach.
- Partner with local nonprofits to serve vulnerable children and families in your community.
