What is CarePortal?

CarePortal provides the connection point between children in need and local churches.

It is a technology platform that mobilizes a network of caring people who want to meet needs in their local community.

Why use CarePortal?

As Child Welfare professionals, we want to use every available resource to help families succeed. CarePortal is a tool intended to strengthen families, keep children safe, and reduce barriers to permanency.

Partnering churches can help meet the tangible needs of our families and provide a point of social contact within the local community. A CarePortal request should remove a barrier to help achieve the case plan goal.

Where is CarePortal Available?

CarePortal initially launched in Marion County in 2019. Currently CarePortal is active in Allen, Elkhart, Hamilton, Howard, Johnson, Kosciusko, Madison, Marion, Miami, Tippecanoe, Vanderburg, Vigo, Wabash, Warrick, and Wayne Counties.

Since launching CarePortal in Indiana we have seen 36.3% less children placed in out-of-home care. The Department of Child Services believes CarePortal has attributed to the decrease.
