Weekend of Service - Silent Auction Item Collection

What is purpose of the project?

Hands of Hope will be holding a silent auction in November to help raise funds for families in the adoption process at Grace Community Church.

When are we doing this project?

  • Saturday, November 1, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 1, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 2, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 2, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

What do we need?

We would also like to have a team of volunteers making phone calls to businesses on behalf of the auction and asking for donated items. When the items are picked up by the volunteers, they will put together a value sheet for the items; providing a description of the donation, the value and who donated the item. This would also be a good time for volunteers to call friends they have that own businesses that might be able to provide a donation for the silent auction.

If possible, we would also like for a group of volunteers to visit area businesses with a letter, a flyer on the plight of orphans personally asking for items for the silent auction. It is easier to secure donated items with a face-to-face visit than with a letter.

What are the goals of the project?

The first goal, as always with Hands of Hope, is to raise awareness of the needs of orphans around the world where the children may not be adopted. Everyone can be a warrior and champion for the orphan; not just through adoption.

The second goal is to secure donated items for a silent auction to raise money for Hands of Hope. There are many things Hands of Hope wishes to accomplish in the future. One of the goals that we have is to provide financial assistance to 10 Grace Community Church families that are in need that have been called to adopt. We know this is a real way to touch Grace families and to make an immediate impact for orphans and our spiritual community.

A third goal is to raise awareness of Hands of Hope and Grace Community Church in the local community with area businesses. We believe this is a great way to reach out to others and get to know other are people with Christ’s hands and feet.

The fourth goal is to give volunteers the opportunity to see the eyes of orphans through our ministry and feel God’s heart beat for these children as we serve together and people learn the needs the ministry has on a regular, consistent basis.
